- Retaining Walls
Retaining walls in stone and metal.
Walls that hold back soil, stop erosion and turn a slope into level ground you can actually use.
Austin's Hill Country lots are beautiful, but slopes wash out, eat up usable yard and make planting hard. A well-built retaining wall fixes all three.
We build retaining walls in stone and in metal, from low garden walls that define a bed to walls that turn a hillside into a terrace.
What a retaining wall includes
Planning the wall
We look at the slope, how water moves across it and what you want to do with the space, then plan the wall's height, length and material.
Stone walls
Natural stone walls with a classic Texas look that blend into the landscape.
Metal walls
Metal retaining walls and edging with a clean, modern line for terraces, beds and steps.
Drainage behind the wall
Water trapped behind a wall is what pushes it over. Planning for drainage is part of building it right.
Finishing the space
Backfill, leveling and planting so the new terrace is ready to use.
Walls that hold back a lot of soil, or that sit near a house, driveway or property line, can need a permit or engineering. We'll tell you if yours might.

Questions about retaining walls
Stone or metal: which is better?
Both work well. Stone has a natural, classic look that suits Texas landscapes. Metal gives a clean, modern line and works especially well for terraces, edging and steps. We'll help you choose based on your yard and your style.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?
It depends on the wall's height, where it sits and your city's rules. Taller walls and walls near structures are more likely to need one. We'll talk it through during your estimate.
Why do retaining walls fail?
Most often because water builds up behind them. Drainage is planned into every wall we build.
How much does a retaining wall cost?
The length, height and material make the biggest difference. We'll give you a clear price at your free estimate. Call (512) 822-0974.
