Tree trimming, pruning and removal in Austin.

Healthier, safer trees, cut the right way. From routine pruning to removals and storm damage, we handle the trees around your home with care for the tree and for everything under it.

Austin's trees work hard. They shade the house through 100-degree summers, take the weight of ice storms and keep growing toward roofs, fences and power lines. A little care at the right time keeps them healthy and keeps your home safe.

Banegas Tree Service brings 8 years of hands-on tree work to every job, and our specialized climbers also work for the City of Austin. We look at the whole tree before we cut, explain what we recommend and why, and only take what the tree needs.

What our tree service includes

Trimming and pruning

Removing dead, broken and crossing branches improves a tree's health and its shape. Good pruning is selective: the right cuts in the right places, never topping or stripping a tree bare.

Crown thinning and raising

Thinning lets light and wind pass through a dense canopy, which reduces the load on big limbs during storms. Raising the crown lifts low branches off the roof, the driveway or the lawn so you can walk, park and mow underneath.

Roofline and structure clearance

Branches resting on shingles, gutters or siding cause damage over time and give pests an easy path inside. We cut them back to a safe distance from the house, fence and other structures.

Tree removal

Sometimes a tree is dead, failing or simply in the wrong place. When removal is the right call, we take it down in controlled sections, protecting your home, yard and neighbors' property.

Storm damage and emergency work

After high winds or an ice storm, hanging limbs and split trunks are a real danger. We're available 24/7 to make the situation safe and clean it up.

Austin oak wilt season

To help stop the spread of oak wilt, the Texas A&M Forest Service recommends not pruning oaks from February through June and painting fresh wounds right away. We plan oak work around it.

Questions about tree services

How much does tree trimming or removal cost in Austin?

It depends on the size and condition of the tree, how close it is to your house or fence, and how much cleanup the job needs. A small ornamental tree and a 60-foot live oak over a roof are very different jobs.

The fastest way to a real number is a free estimate. We look at the tree in person and give you a price before any work starts. Call (512) 822-0974 or request one online.

When is the best time to prune oak trees in Austin?

Oak wilt is a serious disease in Central Texas, and the beetles that spread it are most active in spring. The Texas A&M Forest Service recommends avoiding pruning or wounding oaks from February through June, and painting any fresh wound right away.

Late summer through January is generally the safer window for oaks. If a limb is dangerous, safety comes first, and the cut should be painted immediately.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Austin?

Often, yes. Inside the City of Austin, trees 19 inches or more in diameter (measured 4.5 feet above the ground) are protected, and certain species 24 inches or more, such as live oaks, are heritage trees with extra protections. Removing or seriously damaging them requires a permit, even when the tree is dead or hazardous.

Rules differ outside the city limits. When we come out for your estimate, ask us and we'll help you figure out whether your tree is likely to need one before any work is scheduled.

Do you offer emergency tree service?

Yes. Storm damage, a split trunk or a tree leaning on your house can't wait, and neither do we. Call (512) 822-0974 any time, 24 hours a day.

Is cleanup included?

We go over cleanup and hauling during your estimate, so you know exactly what's included in the price before we start.

Are you insured?

Yes, Banegas Tree Service is insured. You're welcome to ask for proof of insurance with your estimate.
